The Knuckles Mountain Range is one of Sri Lanka’s most spectacular and biodiverse wilderness areas, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The range encompasses a remarkable range of ecosystems within a relatively compact area: semi-evergreen forests, cloud forests, grasslands, river valleys and waterfalls that cascade through jungle gorges in a continuous display of natural theatre. The Knuckles is home to a concentration of endemic flora and fauna, including over 34 endemic amphibian species and rare plants found nowhere else.
